February 18th and 19th as the skies turned to dark most of the norther tier states along with Canada were treated to tremendous display of Northern Lights. From the space weather perspective it quickly went from a G1 storm up to a G2 level storm. Between 2 and 3 am the show was so bright it was naked eye visible with the Duluth, MN city limits despite the normal light pollution. Luckily we were on the warmer side so I spent the better part of 5 hours outside watching and photographing the amazing display. Here’s the time lapse I assembled that shows of the beauty and power of the Northern Lights.
