Its nearly mid-August so it is once again time to get outside and watch for Perseid meteors. For 2015 we were blessed with a nearly new moon so no moonlight to wash out meteor viewing. Due to the weather forecasts I went out with a friend the day before the peak to watch and photograph the meteor display. Saw quite a few meteors and several really bright ones. These two photo are two of the Perseids that I ended up capturing. The one on top was selected as image of the day at for August 13th as space.com
An additional bonus this time of year with no moonlight was an excellent view of the Milky Way stretching overhead.
